Holzer's Desert Rose

Birthdate Jan. 31st 1999

Certified OFA excellent hips

Hello all,

With sad hearts we want to let you all know of the passing of our mama and grandma dog, Holzer’s Desert Rose. Besides being the foundation of our breeding program and our die-hard personal gundog, she was our family member and friend. She raised countless fur babies, as well as our two human babies, and always, ALWAYS did it with gentleness and love. We may never again have the luxury of having a dog with a heart of gold like hers.

We nearly lost her 4 years ago to gangrenous mastitis, which took her hearing, and set her up for the breast cancer that eventually took her life. Through everything, even today, she always had a tail wag and a catlike rub for her people. Every new person or dog was the new best friend she just hadn’t met yet to Rosie.

She produced some incredible babies and grandbabies and it makes it both easier and harder to have them to continue her legacy.

God how we’ll miss you old girl. We’ll see you on the other side, with the shotgun loaded and ready to go.

Blair, Jean, Drew, and Lauren

Rosie comes from field and show champion bloodlines and is an excellent, experienced hunter as well as a beautiful example of the GSP breed standard. Rosie is normally reserved for wild bird hunting, including waterfowl, but she is also currently working on her AKC Senior Hunter title and has qualified for the Arizona Pointing Dog Club's Tournament of Champions (she was beaten by her own son!). She is an intense , driven, fairly close-working personal gundog who has always honored and retrieved  naturally. She has successfully raised 33 beautiful puppies and was retired from motherhood after her third litter.
